Professor Ilias Tachtsidis from University College London, Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering, has concluded a three-month research visit to the University of Florence, where he worked with the European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy (LENS) and the EMOLED project members. The visit was aimed at advancing the second-year milestones for the HyperProbe project, an EU (and for the UK participant UKRI) funded initiative focused on developing cutting-edge hyperspectral imaging technologies for medical applications.
The primary objective of the visit was to facilitate the development of optical phantoms, which are crucial for testing the performance of HyperProbe’s imaging systems. This collaborative effort also supports the progression of the clinical HyperProbe system.
“As we approach the end of year two for the HyperProbe project, it is vital to disseminate research outcomes between partners and collaborators,” said Prof. Tachtsidis. “During my time at the University of Florence, I worked closely with the team to establish bench optical phantom testing for our HyperSpectral Imaging Prototype Systems, which is an essential part of our year-two deliverables.”
Professor Tachtsidis also expressed his gratitude to the project’s funding bodies: “We are thankful to both the European Union and UKRI for enabling these long-term research visits, which are essential for fostering in-person collaboration and ensuring the successful completion of our research goals.”
