HyperProbe Scientific Coordinator, Prof. Francesco Pavone, Receives 2024 Fermi Prize
The Italian Physical Society (SIF) has awarded its prestigious 2024 Enrico Fermi Prize to Prof. Francesco Saverio Pavone, Scientific Coordinator of the HyperProbe project, and Prof. Alberto Diaspro. This renowned award recognizes their groundbreaking contributions to experimental physics with applications in biological systems.
Awarded annually since 2001 to honor the centenary of Enrico Fermi’s birth, the Fermi Prize celebrates members whose discoveries bring exceptional honor to the field of physics. This year, Pavone was recognized “for his leading role in the development of single-molecule manipulation and spectroscopic imaging methods to study molecular processes in cells, tissues, and the brain.”
Prof. Pavone is a distinguished faculty member at the University of Florence’s Department of Physics and serves as Director of the Biophysics Area at the European Laboratory of Non-Linear Spectroscopy (LENS). The HyperProbe team congratulates Prof. Pavone on this significant achievement, which highlights his pioneering work and dedication to advancing physics applications in life sciences.
